Welcome on the website of Roosen Pigeons. My name is Daan Roosen, 24 years old, and working as a consultant in the IT sector. I have been active in the pigeon sport since 2014 and focus mainly on the extreme long distance flights. The love for the sport has come through my grandfather, who has practiced this wonderful hobby for more than 50 years. The pigeon sport is a team sport for us! Although the daily care of the pigeons is mainly in my hands, the experience around it is a family thing. On the days of the races, the pigeons are welcomed by a bunch of supporters, consisting of my parents, brother, grandmother, uncle(s), aunt(s) and other family members. In this way, the passion of grandpa lives on in our family! The combination of work and hobby isn’t always easy. Luckily, I can count on my mother Linda to help with the daily care of the pigeons. In addition, I also receive help from my father Patrick, brother Mathijs and uncle Vic. Finally, I should certainly not forget my grandmother Anna. This 86-year-old lady still regularly comes to help with cleaning nesting bowls, drinking troughs, pots, etc. Very proud of her! Through this website, I want to give the reader an insight into how the pigeon sport is experienced with us. During the season there will be regular flight reports, weblogs and news items! Enjoy!
